🤓 Travel Trivia Tuesday: Which famous hotel is frequently ranked as the most haunted in the world by multiple travel publications? Keep reading to find out!

Good morning, friends, and welcome back to Daily Drop, the only travel newsletter that pays you to read it.

Okay, maybe we don’t pay you, but I don’t see any of the other guys giving away free trips and educating you on how to book free trips… so…

Anyway, enough small talk. There are more important things at stake, like:

  • 🏨 Earn Wyndham elite status for staying just one night

  • ✈️ A new 25% transfer bonus to Flying Blue

🏨 Earn Wyndham elite status for staying just one night

If you tuned in to our hotel hacking masterclass yesterday, you’ll know that we love having our elite status at hotels. If you missed it, you can head over to the DD Lounge and watch the recording.

I use hotel elite benefits like free breakfast and late checkout ALL the time.

The bummer is that, usually, elite status is difficult to earn… or at least really good elite status is.

But not for Wyndham…

In fact, right now, you can earn Wyndham Platinum status for staying one night. 🤯

Yep. You heard me right.

Here are the details:

  • You must first register for the offer

  • Complete one “stay” before September first

  • A “stay” can consist of any number of nights… even just one 😉

  • You’ll earn Platinum elite status through the end of 2023

In case you were wondering, Platinum status is definitely not the most glorious set of perks, but not bad considering how easy it is to obtain in this case.

Of course, the status will only be valid until the end of the year (December 31st, 2023). But if you completed a stay in the next month or so, you’d still have half of the year to enjoy your perks during future stays.

So here’s my recommendation:

If you have a one-night stay coming up, maybe cancel your booking and look toward Wyndham. It’s such an easy lift, and the payoff could be well worth it if you end up traveling later in the year.

📕 A travel journal for your travel journeys

They say that a picture’s worth a thousand words… but sometimes… your own words are pretty worthy, too! And that’s especially true when it comes to remembering your travels 😊

We’ve got the perfect travel companion that won’t butt heads about how long you take in the shower or complain about that super cheap 16-hour overnight bus you decided to book instead of a hotel with a proper bed 🥴

We’re talking about this travel-ready journal from Remember Your Travels!

It’s always so fun to look back through pictures and share them with family and friends, but what can be even more insightful is how YOU were feeling the day your Italian moped broke down on the side of the road or the accomplishment you felt after hiking to Machu Picchu.

I’ve had a travel journal in the past, and I’d really like to dedicate more time to it again! I’m a writer, after all… 🙃

I particularly love this one because of its slim and compact size, but also because of the interesting prompts you’ll find inside to get the creative and reflective travel juices flowing.

If you’d like a journal for your next trip, you can use the code KARANATE to get 35% off!

Remember Your Travels also provides free shipping to the U.S.

✈️ A new 25% transfer bonus to Flying Blue

I guess Flying Blue has been making its rounds with all of the U.S. banks lately.

First Bilt offered a 100% transfer bonus to Flying Blue, then these guys and these guys followed suit with less exciting (but still great) 25% transfer bonuses.

I guess THESE guys felt a little left out because they just launched their own 25% transfer bonus.

Here are the deets:

  • Until June 17th, transfer points from this bank to Flying Blue with a 25% bonus

  • Valid for points earned on cards like this one (I can’t say the name, sorry folks)

So is this a good deal?

Well, the answer is complicated. And by complicated, I mean not complicated at all… Yes, this is a good deal.

As you know, Flying Blue offers amazing value every month with their Promo Rewards, allowing you to fly to Europe for as little as around 12,000 points each way.

Here are some examples of Flying Blue Promo Rewards for the current month.

Various flight prices from the U.S. to Europe using Flying Blue

With this bonus, you could fly to Europe for only 9,600 points, which is a STEAL.

Of course, don’t just transfer them for no reason—I’d recommend waiting until you have a specific award in mind unless you use Flying Blue miles on a regular basis and know you’ll have a use for them sooner than later.

🤓 Travel Trivia Tuesday

Correct answer: Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colorado

Yup, that's right! The Stanley Hotel, located near Rocky Mountain National Park, might be familiar to you if you've seen Steven King's The Shining, or better yet... Dumb and Dumber.

King got his inspiration for the novel while staying at the hotel. Earlier, in 1911, there was an explosion in Room 217, marking the beginning of paranormal activity.

Since then, the rumor is that those spirits, in addition to the owner's, still haunt the hotel today. 👻

Are you brave enough to book a room at the Stanley?
