💻 Portugal launches new remote work visa
Have you ever dreamt of sitting on a beach with your laptop in the beautiful sunny weather of Portugal, taking lunch breaks in the cobblestone-paved streets of Lisbon, and stuffing your face with delicious Pastel de Natas?
Well, I have good news for you.
Portugal has finally launched its new “digital nomad” visa in order to attract more foreign workers to live and work in the country.
Here’s how it works:
- You must earn 4x the national minimum wage (about $2,750 per month)
- Visa is good for up to a year
- It can be extended for up to 5 years
- You get unlimited free port wine
Okay, maybe the last point isn’t true. But you should still drink plenty of port while you’re there.
This visa is a great option for anyone who has ever wanted to experiment with living and working abroad in a European country.
Portugal is an incredibly beautiful country without the ridiculously high cost of living associated with most other Western European countries.
What makes this visa even more attractive is the fact that you can travel freely through the Schengen area of Europe, giving you even more opportunities to explore outside of your home base in Portugal.
In addition to mainland cities like Lisbon and Porto, you could also use this visa to live and work in more unique parts of the country like the island of Madeira.
Portugal is far from the first country to offer something like this, though. If your income isn’t quite up to their standard, you could consider getting a similar visa in Hungary, which only requires an income of $2,000 per month and also allows travel within the Schengen zone.
Remote work is becoming more popular than ever these days, with many remote workers wanting to take advantage of the freedom to work from anywhere. Many of these remote work visas are pretty new, so it’s the perfect time to jump in and go live your best digital nomad life.

🏨 IHG 1 million points giveaway (for certain countries only)
IHG has launched a VERY exciting giveaway of 1 million points. But before you get too excited, there is a very big catch…
The giveaway is only valid for people with a residential address in one of the following countries:
- 🇦🇪 United Arab Emirates
- 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia
- 🇶🇦 Qatar
- 🇮🇳 India
So this won’t apply to most of you, sadly. However, I know we have a number of Daily Drop readers based in these countries, and I think this could be an amazing way for any of you to start getting in on the hotel points action.
Regardless of where you live, 1 million IHG points are extremely valuable and can be used at thousands of hotels all across the world.
Because IHG has 40 airline transfer partners, you could easily convert some of these points into airline miles, fly to a destination, and then use the rest of the points to book hotels there.
Since I’m currently in New Delhi, let’s look at an example of a trip you could book entirely on IHG points if you were based in New Delhi (since Indian residents are eligible for this promo):
- Transfer 525,000 points to Aeroplan (at a 5:1 ratio)
- Book Etihad business class from Delhi to Frankfurt (via Aeroplan) with a stopover in Abu Dhabi
- Book Vistara’s 787-Dreamliner business class back home (also via Aeroplan)
- Use the remaining IHG points to book as many as 30 nights in Germany and Abu Dhabi (hotels cost as little as 16,000 points per night)
That’s just one example of an incredible, luxurious trip you could book with this many points. The contest doesn’t apply to everyone, but it’s definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those to whom it does apply.
If any of you have friends or family living in these countries, be sure to share this deal with them. Maybe they can throw a few points your way if they win... and then maybe you can throw a few of those points MY way... just kidding... kind of...

✈️ Jetblue fares that are so good it's SCARY
Halloween is just around the corner, and JetBlue is celebrating with SCARY good deals (apologies for the cringy, played-out joke).
Until the end of the day today, you can book JetBlue fares for as little as $31 one-way. The sale covers tons of cities all over the U.S., and fares seem widely available.
Here are the deets:
- You must book travel by the end of the day today
- Travel can take place between November 2nd and February 15
- Blackout dates from November 18-28 and December16-January 3rd
This is obviously a great deal, so I don’t think I need to do much convincing here. If you want proof of these silly low fares, I found a couple of examples after 30 seconds of searching, so there seems to be plenty of availability.
You don’t need any promo code to find these fares, just search for your route, and the sale price will reflect in the search results.

That’s all for today, folks. I don't know about you, but those remote work visas sound pretty appealing. And now I can't stop thinking about those Pastel de Natas... 🤤
Are you based in one of the countries eligible for the IHG promo? Where would you go if you could move abroad on a remote work visa? Let me know by replying to this email or reaching out on social media.
Cheers,
