Did you know that Brazil’s Amazon is home to more uncontested people groups than anywhere else in the world, with more than 100 isolated tribes? You can read more about it here!

✈️ Hong Kong is (finally) giving away some flights in the U.S.

As you all probably know by now… Hong Kong is back, baby!

You might remember way back in February when we mentioned the global tourism campaign, “Hello Hong Kong,” which made headlines for launching a giveaway of 500,000 round-trip airline tickets in an effort to welcome travelers back to the city.

This campaign was set to roll out in phases, and lucky for you U.S.-based travelers, your turn is up starting this month!

Cathay Pacific just announced on Monday that if you’re a member of their (free) frequent flyer program, you’ll be eligible to receive an email on May 17th that could contain a code to claim one of these free roundtrip tickets to Hong Kong.

It’s unclear how many of these tickets will be available, but apparently, they’ll be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

So you’ll definitely want to keep a watchful eye on your email on May 17th in case you see that coveted code from Cathay in your inbox and need to IMMEDIATELY claim your free prize.

Holy crap. Can you imagine if one of us got a code?!

Here’s how to enter:

Any other details for now are quite scarce, but Cathay did mention that it will exclusively award one ticket per member (so you won’t win a pair of tix to bring a friend or partner).

Though they hope that offering free tickets to individuals will also increase the likelihood that that person will bring along another traveler or two to boost Hong Kong’s overall tourism.

I imagine that if you did receive an email with a winning code, you’d be prompted on how to redeem it and any other conditions that surrounded this giveaway.

Seriously, y’all. It’s free to sign up! What’ve you got to lose? 😎

🍪 Tasty Travel Tidbits

🏨 Get 8,000 bonus points for staying at Choice Hotels

Continuing the trend of excellent hotel promotions, Choice Hotels has come out of the gate this May with a pretty awesome one.

And by “come out of the gate,” I mean it’s been around for a few weeks… but I’m just now telling you about it.

Until June 30th, you can earn up to 8,000 bonus points for every two stays at Choice Hotels, which is actually better than it sounds.

Woah, wait a minute…

That graphic above says that you’ll earn a $50 gift card… Mike is clearly losing his marbles, right?

WRONG.

Although Choice advertises this as earning a “$50 gift card,” the reality is that you earn 8,000 points, which can be redeemed for various $50 gift cards…

… or they can be redeemed for more hotel stays, which is how I recommend you use them.

Here is a snapshot of the fine print where they specify what I just mentioned above:

While 8,000 points may not sound like a lot, it’s actually not bad, considering you could theoretically earn them for staying just two nights (if each of your stays was only a single night).

I have 1-night stays at hotels ALL the time. Whether it’s a long layover at an airport hotel, a quick stop in a new city, or just hotel-hopping to try out different neighborhoods, I find it quite easy to maximize this promotion - and plan to do so.

For example, I have an overnight layover in Milan later this spring, for which I can book a stay at this hotel for just over $60 per night (which is already an awesome price for a hotel, anyway).

I also have multiple overnight layovers in New Delhi throughout the summer and plan to book this hotel in Gurugram (which is actually closer to Delhi airport than downtown Delhi) for just $49 per night.

All of these options are already great prices for hotels. The fact that I’ll earn enough points for more free nights because of this promotion just sweetens the pot that much more.

While I wouldn’t change your plans drastically to accommodate this promotion, it’s definitely worth looking at Choice Hotels if you have any upcoming travel plans.

Make sure you register for the offer before booking your stays if you want to jump in on the fun.
