🍒 Seal the (Accommodation) Deal with Cherry's Browser Extension

In case you weren’t aware, it’s 2023, y’all, and travel is back in FULL SWING… like airport overload and airline meltdown type of “full swing.”

And sometimes that’s just the price you have to pay to travel at a time like this, but do you know who won’t make you sit on a tarmac for two hours or leave your luggage in another country?

Your accommodation.

And that’s why I’m super excited to talk about a relatively new browser extension that has burst onto the travel scene.

Cherry likes to candidly introduce themselves as your free, easy money solution when booking accommodations.

So if you want to save time (and that cash!) when searching for the best hotel deals, Cherry should be your go-to guilty pleasure 🍒

Why should you care?

It’s no shocker, but we love miles and points here at Daily Drop. And we love booking things with miles and points—including accommodations.

But sometimes, award nights are scarce or your points are running low… so then what?

I imagine most of us are in the same boat… we turn to an online travel agency (OTA) to browse independent hotels (properties that aren’t Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, etc.).

Or you might even start with using an OTA to research where you want to stay when initially planning a trip.

This could be on Expedia, Booking.com, Kayak, etc… they’re all considered OTAs. We love ‘em because they’re easy and convenient tools, but are you really getting the best deal by using them?

This is where Cherry comes in! This free and tasty browser extension silently works in the background, scouring the web for each and every deal, so YOU DON’T HAVE TO.

It’s like having the ultimate travel-hacking companion that does all the work, and then you just tag along for the amazing trip 🤗

So how does it work?

Simply put, the Cherry browser extension can be installed with just two clicks onto your favorite web browser.

You won’t even know it’s there, but when you are searching on an OTA, Cherry will pop up and alert you if it finds a better deal—either directly on the property’s website or on Cherry’s own booking site.

Let’s look at an example.

I was planning to stay a few nights in Barcelona on an upcoming trip, and I initially wanted to book a Marriott property. However, there weren’t many options available with a decent price or a decent location.

So for my Plan B, I hopped over to Expedia to search for other properties that I might want to stay at. I found this one in a good part of the city AND it had a rooftop pool.

But Cherry had other plans. It immediately popped up saying it had found a better deal 👇

When I clicked “BOOK NOW” with Cherry’s pop-up alert, I was taken to Cherry’s booking site, and in fact, the total price for my room was cheaper than what was being offered on Expedia.

I double-checked that the room conditions were similar (double bed, fully refundable), and the difference ended up being around $34 saved.

That’s a lot of extra tapas I could order for $34 while in Barcelona!

As a cautionary tip, be sure that you check all the parameters around the booking when comparing with Cherry to ensure you do get the best deal.

Sometimes, a price may be displayed as being better, but it’s non-refundable, for example—whereas it might be fully refundable on the other OTA site.

Overall, I’ve had good results with recent searches, but with anything that is travel-related, double-check the details before jumping on a deal that may look way better at first glance.

To summarize what you need to do:

  1. Download the Cherry browser extension to Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox

  2. Browse and search for accommodations on an OTA as you normally would

  3. Wait for Cherry to alert you of a good deal

Planning for that bucket list trip is always exciting, but scoring a deal on a great accommodation is just… the cherry on top 🍒
