Million-mile giveaway details revealed 🤩

We've had a lot of people write in asking about what kinds of points and miles we are giving away. So before we announce our first winner in tomorrow's newsletter, I'll break down which types of points we are giving away to five lucky people:

Now, based on those numbers you might think that the value of each batch of points varies widely. But all points are not created equal, and you can redeem each of these groups of points and miles for (roughly) the same value. And don't worry, I'll show you exactly how 🤗

Remember last week when I roasted JetBlue for canceling 37 of its routes? Well, forget about that for a second, because until 11:59 PM tonight, JetBlue is offering a huge sale with fares as low as $39 (weirdly close to the number of routes they just canceled 🤔).

If you've ever dreamt of taking a trip to Peru, now is the time. In a weird, unexpected development from ALL Accor hotels, a bunch of properties in Peru are bookable with a 40% discount through November 30th, 2022.

You need to be a member (which is free to sign up for) and book through this link specifically. The page is in Portuguese by default because this offer was targeted toward Brazil-based members, though it will work for anyone.

And who said it was a waste of time to spend hours searching through every major travel site and changing my VPN country location? 😩

After a quick search, I was able to find some pretty good deals like this room in the Miraflores neighborhood of Lima (popular with travelers) for only $50 a night:

The reason this deal is worth taking advantage of is that it can be hard to find affordable, comfortable hotels in good locations that also earn you loyalty points in places like this. 

Maybe you weren't planning on visiting Peru this Fall, or maybe you already have a trip booked. Either way, you could save money and still have a nice hotel to stay at by taking advantage of this offer and pulling the trigger on that dream trip to South America.

I thought it'd be fun to break down how many points he earned from this purchase and how far those points could take him.

Since the Centurion card is rumored to earn 1 point per dollar, he would have 170,000,000 Amex points. I know, I'm really, really good at math.

If he wanted to stay at luxury hotels, he could transfer those points to Hilton (at a 1:2 ratio) for a total of 340,000,000 Hilton points. The most expensive hotel in the Hilton portfolio is the Waldorf Astoria in the Maldives which you can book for as few as 150,000 Hilton points per night.

That means that this guy could stay at one of the most expensive hotels in the WORLD for 2,720 nights (because every 5th night is free when using points) using his free Amex points. In other terms, he could live there for seven and a half years straight without ever paying a cent. Even for a billionaire, that's pretty insane.

I know it's unlikely that any of us will ever earn that many points (if you do, I want a commission 😛), but I think it's fun to break this down and see how even billionaires can maximize their travel rewards.
