You know someone’s desperate for material when they start talking about the weather… 🤦‍♂️

🛳️ Cruise news: Spend a week in Alaska for $50 a day

Alaska is heating up! And no, we’re not talking about the climate… we’re talking about KILLER CRUISE DEALS.

Some big-name cruise lines are basically auctioning off (begging?) you to book their cruises, but it requires some flexibility and spontaneity.

In an effort to fill rooms at the last minute before the ship disembarks, a lot of these deals are happening within the next few weeks. I know, I know… but hear me out 😎

Some of these cruises are slashing their prices IN HALF. Like perfectly slicing your PB&J sammy diagonally down the middle (you’re a psychopath if you cut it any other way, in my opinion).

For example, Norwegian is offering a seven-day Alaskan cruise, departing from Seattle, that’ll only cost you $57 a day, per person. Seriously, $57 for a nice freaking room, a free (unlimited) open bar, free specialty dining, free wifi, and free excursions.

BUT they’re also throwing away the price of that second person, so they can sail FOR FREE. Now if you take the $57 and divide by two, you’re paying $28.50, per day, for each of you 🤯 

Aaaand if you book your airfare through Norwegian, that second person (you probably guessed it) gets FREE roundtrip flights.

I’m beginning to think that “free” is their favorite F word 🤭

I don’t know how long those additional offers will stand, so if you’re considering it, I’d jump on it sooner rather than later, folks.

Now here’s that small flexibility/spontaneity requirement… You can grab this deal to depart from Seattle THIS Saturday, April 15th, or the slightly more manageable date of NEXT Saturday, April 22nd.

So if you work remotely, or maybe you’re retired, or you just legit live on the edge and plan to up and leave your job to hit up a cruise going to Alaska next week… (probably don’t do that last one), then this could be a great and affordable opportunity to see some of the most beautiful landscapes and wildlife at a great time of year.

Here’s a quick list of some other Alaskan cruise deals I found:

• Seven-night itinerary departing May 12th out of Vancouver B.C. on Celebrity Cruises. Fares start at $349 USD pp. (or about $49.86 a night).

• Seven-night itinerary departing May 10th out of Vancouver B.C. on Holland America. Fares start at $349 USD pp. (or about $49.86 a night).

• Five-night itinerary departing May 1st out of Vancouver B.C. on Princess Cruises. Fares start at $249 USD pp. (or about $49.80 a night).

✈️ Book a semi-private jet, rack up United miles

I’m sure we’ve all seen those paparazzi shots of celebrities low-key disembarking their private jets. They’re decked out in Gucci sunnies and silky black fur pants. Oh wait, that last one is just my cat.

But anyway, that could be you (minus the designer clothes and private jet).

So… huh? Just wait it out, we’re getting there.

We’ve got a unique one for you all today, and it involves booking a semi-private jet for your next journey AND earning United miles while you do it.

We’re talking about the semi-private jet company JSX.

This level of luxury may seem so out of reach for most of us, but JSX is here to bridge that gap between spending tens of thousands of dollars on a private jet or flying commercial (like the rest of us peasants).

You’ll find flights on regional jets with 30 business-class-style seats and all the luxurious amenities you’d expect. You’ll leave from private terminals allowing you to bypass the crowds and show up just 20 minutes before your flight.

JSX is based in Texas, so most of their flights service the West Coast, but they’re now also flying to Florida and even Cabo 🇲🇽

Sounds pretty sweet. So how do we do this?

I searched for flights from Dallas to Cabo and got these results.

Is it the best bargain of the century? No, but if you want the experience and convenience of flying private, but don’t want to drop $10K on chartering a private jet, then this could be a definite win.

It comes down to what works for you, what you’re willing to spend, and what you want to get out of it.

If you do opt to splurge a bit on one of JSX’s flights, you’ll be happy to know that last year they partnered with United Airlines (United is seriously killing it with the partnerships as of late). This means that if you’re a United MileagePlus® member, you can earn award miles when you fly JSX. 

You’ll get anywhere from 50% to 100% of the miles you fly (this depends on the type of fare class you book).

All you do is punch in your MileagePlus® number when you book a JSX flight, hop on board, and enjoy this lavish experience.

As of now, you can’t use United miles to book a flight on JSX, but apparently, there’s been some whispering going on between them and United…

So, fingers crossed that this could change in the future! 🤞🤫

😡 The latest travel hack you DON’T want to be a part of

Juice-jacking… what comes to mind? Personally, I thought THAT has GOT to be the secret to The Rock’s massive biceps. Throwing back a few cans of special muscle juice… to get jacked… no?

Well, it’s actually the deceitful practice that bad hackers are using to steal information off of your phone.

And how are they doing this? Through public USB ports. The BLASPHEMY. My literal lifeblood (or my phone’s, rather) runs through public USB charging ports.

The FBI even issued a statement about it. 👇

Some smartphones use the same port for charging as they do data transfer, so this opens up the possibility of introducing malware or getting your personal info stolen.

Before you all completely start freaking out, this isn’t a brand new issue. It’s been going on for years, but the FBI is just now starting to address it.

To stay on the safe side, bring your own portable charger, carry a charging-only cable, and avoid plugging your phone (or laptop) into a public charging cable.
