Good morning and HAPPY FRIDAY!

I don't know about you, but I have some exciting plans for the weekend: I'm traveling to a new country! I won't tell you which one, but I'll give you a clue so you can figure it out on your own… 8.9824° N, 79.5199° W

We'll keep things short and sweet today:

  • ✈️ Airfare prices are (finally) dropping
  • 🏠 Free points for paying your rent on time
  • 🏔 Inspirational travel quote
  • 🤔 Answer to yesterday's trivia question

✈️ Airfare prices are dropping... finally

You know how every day on the news you keep hearing about the sky-high cost of travel?

Well, there's some good news out of the U.S. Department of Labor's Consumer Price Index! I know that sounds like the least interesting thing on earth. And it is. So, I've saved you the trouble of having to read it 🤓. Here's the important part:

Airfare prices dropped 7.8% from June to July of this year, which is both staggering and relieving. Even traveling on budget airlines this Summer has been expensive, let alone tickets to other countries or continents. This data shows exactly what we've been hoping to see for months - travel is coming back, airlines are starting to keep up with demand, and the surge of post-pandemic travel is winding down.

I wouldn't say that things are back to normal or that prices are even all that reasonable quite yet, but this bodes well for continued decreases in travel costs in the next month or two.

🏠 Earn free travel for paying your rent

Yes, I know it sounds too good to be true. But it's real. You can earn free travel just for paying your rent on time. There are no extra fees, no need to open a credit card or anything. Want to find out how? I thought you might 😉

Bilt Rewards is a relatively new player in the points, miles, travel, and credit card worlds. While their credit card doesn't offer the same value as some of its competitors, Bilt does stand out with a few unique features.

Mainly, you can earn Bilt points just for paying your rent on time. They partner with over 2 million properties around the U.S. that allow you to pay your rent through the Bilt app. Once you pay your rent on time, you'll be awarded 250 Bilt points every month for a maximum of 3,000 points per year. Even if your property manager only accepts payments by check, you can still pay through the Bilt app and they'll mail a check on your behalf. Pretty cool, eh?

Here are some of the ways you could use those free points:

  • Transfer them to an airline like American, United, Emirates or Air France
  • Transfer them to a hotel program like World of Hyatt or IHG
  • Redeem directly for travel in Bilt's travel portal for 1.25 cents per point
  • Pay your rent, shop on amazon, or even save them toward a down payment on a home

I recommend the first or second option above since it will definitely get you the most value, but you can use your points however you'd like (including buying this taco toaster on Amazon. You can literally make tacos in your toaster. It's incredible 🌮).

Whether you're new to points and miles or you're a seasoned expert, you should sign up for the program and start earning those points on your rent.

🏔 Travel Quote

I'll finish off the week with a travel quote from Michael Palin, an actor and member of Monty Python (if you're too young to know what that is then go look it up, their stuff is as hilarious now as it was 40 years ago).

Medellin

And finally, the answer to yesterday's trivia question is...

Drum roll, please......

Scotland! The world's shortest scheduled passenger flight is operated by Loganair and flies from Westray to Papa Westray in the Orkney Islands. Though it's scheduled for 1.5 minutes, it has been done in as little as 53 seconds 🤯

Thanks for tuning in for this first week. We have a TON of exciting content planned for you in the coming weeks, so make sure you stick around.

See you on Monday,
