Last week, Koreans got younger overnight when the government passed a law abolishing the antiquated system for calculating one’s age. Read more about it here.

Good morning and welcome back to Daily Drop, the newsletter that’s still not allowed to talk about things like █████, credit cards, and amazing limited-time welcome offers.

Sadly, some of our partners decided to change their minds about how much they love us, so some of today’s content can only be viewed on our website.

But trust me… it’s worth it. More on that in a bit. Here’s what’s up today:

  • 🏨 First-class Friday: Booking 5-star hotels at 1-star prices

💳 LAST CALL for amazing offers on █████ Southwest credit cards

You know what really grinds my gears? When I’m not allowed to tell you about awesome travel hacks in Daily Drop.

Honestly, it makes me cry…

But you can put an end to my tears by doing one simple task; clicking the button below to read what was GOING to be in today’s newsletter.

This section was going to be the meat of today’s content; the belle of the ball; the cat’s pajamas; the “GOAT,” if you will.

In all seriousness, it’s pretty exciting and only available for a couple more days, so if you like travel hacking and want to rack up some EASY points (and another special surprise), check it out:

🏨 First-class Friday: Booking 5-star hotels at 1-star prices

If you’ve been in the travel-hacking game for some time, you’ve probably heard us toss around some hotel brand names like Ritz-Carlton, Waldorf Astoria, Park Hyatt, and other aspirational hotel names that seem somewhat “out of reach.”

It’s true that, generally, these hotel brands are difficult and/or expensive to book, regardless of whether or not you use cash or points.

Even though you could technically book a night at the Conrad in Osaka for “free” using 95,000 Hilton points, most people still don’t want to or can’t afford to shell out THAT many points for a single night…

So today, I wanted to highlight some examples of how you can book properties like this without breaking the points bank or the bank bank.

Example 1: Park Hyatt

When you think of the Park Hyatt, you probably think of the pinnacle of luxury hotels, which is a correct correlation - Park Hyatt’s are amazing, and pretty much as good as it gets in terms of luxury.

They’ll frequently run hundreds or even thousands of dollars, depending on the specific property and time of year.

But there are also a number of Park Hyatts around the world that cost next to nothing.

For example, the Park Hyatt in Chennai, India, is a Hyatt Category 1 hotel that costs as few as 3,500 points per night… which is insane.

You’re getting the same quality, brand, and service as other Park Hyatt hotels, but it will cost you basically nothing.

Hyatt points are super easy to earn since you can transfer points from cards like this lovely credit card or the Bilt Mastercard, making this aspirational stay way less… aspirational.

Example 2: Ritz-Carlton

Ritz-Carlton is another one of those hotels that you can probably picture in your mind even if you’ve never stayed at one…

Since this hotel brand is owned by Marriott, you can book Ritz-Carltons all over the world using Marriott Bonvoy points.

But much like the Park Hyatt, even using points at a Ritz-Carlton can come at a hefty price…

Most people don’t even have 112,000 points in their account, so the thought of using that many points for a single night is… well… sickening.

Thankfully, there are Ritz properties out there that you could book without using ANY points or ANY cash money.

How, you ask?

The magic of Free Night Awards.

For example, there is a Ritz-Carlton in Muscat, Oman, which frequently prices around 30,000 points per night…

I’ve stayed there before, and it remains my single favorite hotel in the world. Because it costs so few points, you can use a 35,000-point Free Night Award to book this with no money or points required.

There are multiple Marriott cards that currently have all-time high welcome offers and offer Free Night Awards every single year you hold the card so be sure to check those out if you’re a Marriott boy like me.

There are plenty of other examples of luxury hotel brands like the ones above that offer great value for your money or points, so try looking outside the box if you want to experience aspirational hotel stays on a budget.
