Good morning from the bustling streets of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania - one of my favorite cities in the world.
I'm pretty wiped today... My flight down here last night took 7 hours and 35 minutes, or about 144 times as long as it will take you to read today's newsletter (I recommend you take my word for it instead of testing that math 😉).
Here's what I got for you today:
- ✈️ United is giving away 1 million miles 😮
- 🍪 Tiny travel tidbits
- 🛳️ 50% off all-inclusive cruises?? Yes, please!

✈️ United is giving away 1 million miles 😮
|
|
|
Remember that time we gave away 1 million points and miles? It feels like a lifetime ago, and honestly? I miss it.
Thankfully, we have a copycat on our hands, folks.
United has teamed up with a bank and an app called Timeshifter (which I’ll get to in just a minute) to give away 1 million United miles along with some other prizes.
|
|
|
|
Here are the details:
- One grand prize winner will receive 1 million United miles and a year-long subscription to Timeshifter
- Eight (yes, 8) runners up will receive 500,000 United miles and a year-long subscription to Timeshifter
- 500 runners-up to the runners-up will win a year-long subscription to the Timeshifter app
- Anybody can enter; all you need is a United MileagePlus account (which is free to sign up for)
So, yeah… They definitely one-upped us on this one. They are giving away 5 million miles in total, which is pretty epic.
Anybody who has a MileagePlus account should definitely register for this sweepstakes.
Anybody who doesn’t have one should create one right now and also enter the sweepstakes.
And in case you're wondering, there is no purchase necessary, nor do you need to have a credit card with the bank they're partnering with.
Now I have a question:
What the heck is this Timeshifter app that United has partnered with?
The truth is that I don’t really know... I’ve personally never used it. But apparently, the app is designed to alleviate jet lag.
|
|
|
|
It looks like you can upload your travel itineraries and the app will give you recommendations about sleep schedule, caffeine intake, screen time, and more to help you reduce jet lag as much as possible.
As someone who is in a perpetual state of jet lag to some degree, I like the cut of these guys’ jibs, if you know what I mean.
I find it quite challenging to pre-adjust my internal clock to my destination timezone, so I plan on checking out this app immediately.
Again, I’ve never used it and am not promoting it… but I’m always down if Timeshifter wants to give us some love 😉
So what are you waiting for? Go register to win some free United Miles and maybe discover the cure for jet lag!
If you don't want or need the miles, I know a guy with two thumbs and a travel bug who'd love to have them...

🛳️ 50% off all-inclusive cruises?? Yes, please!

You can’t say I didn’t warn you…
As expected, cruise companies are the belle of the ball these days. This year seems to be a particularly fruitful wave season, and Norwegian cruises is a perfect example.
|
|
|
|
With their new "Free at Sea" sale, Norwegian is offering deals of up to 50% off all-inclusive cruises, along with other potential add-on discounts.
Here are a few of the perks of these cruises:
- Unlimited free drinks
- Free specialty dining
- Free excursions
- Free wifi
The sale also includes deals for other add-ons, including:
- Airfare deals (buy one, get one)
- Flexible change/cancellation policy
- Free additional guests
Here's why I love this deal:
Norwegian is making it as simple as possible. 50% discount, all-inclusive, and a few other options if you want.
To make things even sweeter, the cruises they have available right now are actually great. For example, they have a 10-day cruise in the Caribbean for only $579, or about $58 per day.
|
|
|
|
$58 per day for all food, unlimited drinks, activities, and a place to sleep at night is pretty incredible if you ask me.
If you're more of a European cruise type, they have plenty of great cruise options in the Mediterranean, though they're definitely pricier than the one I mentioned.
Overall, this is an excellent opportunity to book a cruise at a steep discount without needing to plan for onboard spending.

That's gonna do it for today, friendos.
I'm only here in Dar es Salaam for one day before taking yet another 10-hour journey deep into the Rungwe region of Tanzania, a place I also love dearly.
Do you want to know how I'm able to stay connected and write this newsletter from a jungle village in Africa? Will you give me a commission if you win a million United Miles? Let me know (mainly about the last one) by replying to his email or reaching out on social media.
