💳 How I’d use the Venture X signup bonus
✈️ Virgin Atlantic 30% transfer bonus

💳 How I’d use the Venture X signup bonus
I’m a credit card junkie. To the common person, I probably look like I have a significant problem.
But if you manage them responsibly, you can beat the banks at their own game and leverage your daily spending for amazing travel.
That’s why I’m always telling you fine, beautiful people to sign up for them.
But every so often, I get a message that looks something like this:
“Mike… Damn, you’re so cool. I get that this card will give me (x) points, and I believe that it’s a lot of points and a great deal. But honestly, I just don’t know how to use them.”
So today, I’m going to take a signup bonus for one of my FAVORITE credit cards on the market and tell you exactly how I’d use it.
Oh, and the card is called the Capital One Venture X card.
I know most of you probably just spit out whatever was in your mouth at the sheer shock of me actually saying the name of a credit card in an email…
But Capital One just thinks we’re SO COOL that they were like, “Bro just say the name of our card in your emails.”
And I was like “Okay, fine.”
And they were like, “Cool. Okay. Fine.”
And here we are.
Anyway, my favorite thing about the Venture X card is the flexibility of the points. You can transfer them to airlines and hotels, OR you could use them to simply offset ANY travel purchases.
The latter option is what I’ll be focused on today.
So here’s what I’d do with the 75,000 points I’d earn from signing up.
I’d take 25,500 points right off the top to book round-trip flights from the U.S. to Oslo, Noway.
Remember, you can use your points to offset ANY travel purchases, so it doesn’t matter where you book it. Just look for the cheapest possible option!
So now I have round-trip, trans-Atlantic flights booked to Scandinavia, and I still have 50,000 points to burn.
Next, I’ll look for a hotel in Oslo.
Since I can use points from the Venture X to pay for any travel purchase, I’ll look for a decent hotel with good ratings, a good location, and a reasonable price point.
Ooo, look at that! I found just the one:
At $50 a night, this downtown hotel is going to run me a total of $350 for the week, which will cost me 35,000 points.
Voila. Now I have round-trip flights and a full week of hotels booked, all for FREE, and still have 14,500 points left.
Now we can get creative.
A train from the airport to downtown Oslo costs $21.50 USD (230 Norwegian Krone) each way, for a total of $43 round-trip to/from the airport.
As long as you use the Venture X card to pay for the purchase at the ticket counter (or online ahead of time), you can use 4,300 of your points to offset this purchase, too! When I said you can offset any travel purchases, I meant ANY.
You still have more than 10,000 points left. Now what?
Well, my friends, keep ‘em. And start saving for the next trip.
As you can see, the Capital One Venture X card is extremely powerful, and this bonus isn’t even the all-time high—it’s just the normal standard bonus.
Still, if you get creative, you can book a FREE trip (and yes, it’s legit free since you’re covering the entire purchase with points) to all kinds of cool destinations.
Oh, and Capital One? Thanks for being such a mensch and letting us use the name of your cards. I love you. 😘
✈️ Virgin Atlantic 30% transfer bonus
I love me a good transfer bonus, don’t you? Especially when it’s with an amazing airline.
Right now, you can get a SWEET bonus when you transfer points from this bank to Virgin Atlantic, one of our favorite airlines here at Daily Drop.
Here’s the dealio:
When you transfer points from this bank to Virgin, you’ll receive an extra 30% bonus (1,000 points = 1,300 Virgin miles)
There is no cap to the number of points you can transfer
Only valid until October 14th
Overall, this is a great opportunity. A 30% bonus to Virgin is just about as good as it gets, especially from a major bank like this one.
In case you weren’t aware, Virgin Atlantic has some amazing sweet spots, like flying from the U.S. to London for only 10,000 miles one-way.
With this bonus, you’d only need to transfer 7,700 points to fly all the way to Europe… That’s bananas.
If you wanted to ride in style, this could also be a great opportunity to fly in Virgin’s famous Upper Class business seat.
For the same route above, you’d only need to transfer about 36,000 points to have enough to book a far more luxurious version of this flight.
In my opinion, the exorbitant taxes and fees completely defeat the purpose of using points, but you can decide for yourself on that one!
Virgin miles are also great for booking flights with Delta, especially if you can find availability in Delta One (business class), which is easier said than done…
Overall, this is a great opportunity. If you have points with this bank, I’d strongly suggest transferring some points over if you think you’ll have a good use for them anytime in the near future.

If you’re in the mood for top-tier chocolate and fondue, you’re in luck. Today, FareDrop is gifting us a killer deal to Zurich, Switzerland! 🇨🇭
Every time I go to Switzerland, I mentally prepare myself to be figuratively robbed by the sky-high prices in this gorgeous country (and city!).
And it is gorgeous.
But yeah, there’s no beating around the bush. Switzerland is hella pricey, but if you budget ahead of time, it stings a little less, which is why this $434 flight feels extra good.
So why visit? For starters, Zurich is home to the largest Lindt chocolate factory and store in the world… and is also home to the largest chocolate fountain on earth.
Plus, the ferry ride to get there from the city center is just freaking breathtaking 😮
This is an actual photo I took…
And what I remember most, is when you get off the ferry, the entire region smells of sweet, sweet chocolate that lovingly guides you to the factory like you’re following Willy Wonka himself.
And if you happen to have any room left after being rolled out of Lindt’s massive chocolate store, I’d highly recommend indulging in some of Zurich’s famous fondue and raclette, because… hot, melted cheese. That is all 🤤
This central Swiss city is also home to over 50 museums and art galleries, so there’s truly something for everyone.
Plus, if you’re hoping to experience the Swiss Alps, you can hop on a short train and head towards dozens of alpine towns—including Zermatt, which is home to the famous Matterhorn!
Zurich really doesn’t take much convincing, so if you’d like to find other cheap airfare just like today’s, consider signing up for FareDrop and let the deals come to you 🤗
